#278 (Marsh 1001)
#55 (RS 500)
Long Tall Sally/ Slippin' and Slidin' by Little Richard

Label: Specialty 572 Year: 1956
Condition: EX+ $30.00
Long Tall Sally/ Slippin' and Slidin'Here's a beautiful copy of one of Little Richard's finest singles, which was, in fact, his biggest U.S. hit in both the Black and Pop markets. Besides an A side that rates highly on both the Dave Marsh and Rolling Stone lists, the B side of this masterpiece is rated at #473 in Dave Marsh's list of the 1001 greatest singles ever made, so both sides are musts for any collection of rock'n'roll! This is the first pressing, credited to "Little Richard And His Band" and with A side writing credited merely to "E. Johnson" (later pressings variously add "R. Penniman" and perhaps "B. Blackwell"), and the B side merely to R. Penniman (later pressings may add "A. Collins-E. Bocage-J. Smith"). Note: This 45 is among those in the Louise Neal collection that probably got some airplay, and sadly spent some of their life outside a protective sleeve. The 45s in this category typically have more noticeable storage wear (ringwear and scuffs/scratches), and the audio may not be pristine due to the imperfect grooves. In this case, the labels are have light ringwear and grade a strong EX (see scan). The vinyl is somewhat scuffed-looking, but both sides render strong, Near Mint audio.
