This special release is pressed on clear purple vinyl. "Always On My Mind" was originally released on RCA 0815 along with "Separate Ways;" it was re-released in 1985 as part of the Elvis 50th Anniversary celebration. I've learned a lot today about this song -- one of my all-time favorites. First of all, I never realized it had been recorded by so many other artists... before Willie Nelson's definitive version in 1982! The earliest I could find was Brenda Lee's, which was a mediocre hit in the Country market in 1972. But Elvis' 1973 version is a revelation: I still think I prefer Willie's reading, but Elvis' definitely deserves to be heard more than it is, and it reflects good taste that he chose it to record. Note: This beautiful copy looks new (Labels, Vinyl). The audio grades Near Mint with a touch of underlying surface noise near the beginning. The picture sleeve is nearly flawless.
