Brown Eyed Girl/ Goodbye Baby (Baby Goodbye)

Like the Kinks, Van Morrison also abandoned garage rock after a brief flirtation with it in his time with Them ("Gloria," "Mystic Eyes," etc). And this was the first statement of his new direction. It was such a new direction, in fact, that I don't think many fans of "Brown Eyed Girl" realize that Van Morrison wrote and sang lead vocal on "Gloria." This tune caused consternation at some radio stations of the day, because of the lyrics "making love in the green grass" in the last verse, and the offending lyrics were replaced with "laughin' and a-runnin', hey hey" from a previous verse. This is a copy of the un-censored 45. Note: This beautiful copy has a drillhole and offers up powerful, pristine Mint sound... A real treat! (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
