From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed copy of the limited edition pressing on clear gold vinyl. This is an incredibly wonderful 1960s-era soul sound, both sides great examples of Carolina "beach music." Note: This single was released twice on the same catalog number. A pressing in 1980 lists the A side as "Carolina Girls" and the B side as "Down At The Beach Club." This pressing has different titles, but the same recordings — with one significant exception: On the B side of this version, Johnson is definitely singing "Down At The Boondocks," whereas on the 1980 pressing he's singing "Down At The Beach Club." Apparently, the gold vinyl release was a special promo for members of the "Boondocks Club" — hence, the change in the song's name. :-)
