For Dante's second (and last) single on Kirshner, Jeff Barry went for a sensitive ballad rather than Dante's usual uptempo bubblegum sound. It flopped, of course, cause that wasn't what people wanted to hear. Fortunately, they included a "typical" Dante number on the flip, and a delightful number it is, too! In a very interesting bit of marketing, Dante is credited in bold type under his name as "Composer-Artist-Performer"... clearly, they were trying to get the guy out of his anonymous bubblegum-vocals role. Didn't succeed, but hey, it was worth a shot!
