Cupid/ Farewell, My Darling

I wonder how a guy feels after he writes a song like "Cupid"? Does he know he's written a standard that will be loved by millions for years and years? Certainly, it helps if he can sing it the way Sam Cooke sang "Cupid!" What a gorgeous voice. Of course, he must have been somewhat disappointed that it didn't even crack the top 10 on either the RnB or the Pop charts here at home. It did better in the U.K.... reaching #7 there, and of course it looms much larger in our cultural memory than its chart performance would suggest. The B side is delightful, too. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage RCA Victor Records factory sleeve. It has Near Mint labels and, despite some notable light scuffing for the vinyl that separately grades less than Near Mint, the audio sounds Near Mint with just a light touch of underlying surface noise.
