Originally released on Checker 1032. Here's a great song that's somehow entered the Nation's musical consciousness while never becoming a radio airplay hit. Originally written by Arthur Alexander, but not released on a 45 single, this is the first semi-hit version we have, and it became Alaimo's biggest. The Gentrys recognized an opportunity in this tune later in the decade, but didn't manage to move above the bottom quarter of the chart. Finally, Alexander himself re-recorded it in the mid-1970's and got as high as #45 with that version, which is the highest of all the versions. Still, I bet you play this for just about anyone, and they'll say they've heard it before. That's what I call a Classic! This is a like-new copy of the out-of-print Collectables reissue, which presents both sides in the original 45 Mono mix.
