This is the terrific original version of "Gasoline Alley Bred," which The Hollies covered later in the year. The Hollies version handily tops this one, but that doesn't diminish the joy of this original. Blue Mink featured Roger Cook and Madeline Bell on vocals... Cook and/or the co-writers of this tune were responsible for a huge number of fine Bubblegum, Sunshine Pop, and Disco singles in the 1960s & 1970s, including:\r\n
\r\n- You've Got Your Troubles (Fortunes, 1965)\r\n
- Green Grass (Gary Lewis & Playboys, 1966)\r\n
- I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman (Whistling Jack Smith, 1967)\r\n
- Baby, Now That I've Found You (Foundations, 1967)\r\n
- Smile A Little Smile for Me (Flying Machine, 1969)\r\n
- Baby Take Me In Your Arms (Jefferson, 1969)\r\n
\r\n- Build Me Up Buttercup (Foundations, 1969)\r\n
- My Baby Loves Lovin (White Plains, 1970)\r\n
- Gimme Dat Ding (Pipkins, 1970)\r\n

Roger Cook was also co-founder of the group White Plains. Note: The 45 label misspells Macaulay's name as "McCauley." This promo copy has the same Mono version on both sides. The copy comes in a vintage Philips Records factory sleeve.
