Originally released on Peacock 1612. This is the original 1953 hit version of "Hound Dog," by Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton! Of course, it makes much more sense to hear Big Mama singing to her hound than to hear Elvis Presley putting down in his dog. :-) (Still, Elvis does add something to it, doesn't he? My, yes!) If you don't know this original version, do seek it out one way or another. Your understanding of the evolution of Rock'n'Roll simply cannot be complete without it. This is a new copy of the out-of-print Collectables reissue.
