Both of these tracks were on the
A Hard Day's Night
album, as well as in the movie. This was one of several "filler" Beatles 45s Capitol released between the group's "regular" 45s "A Hard Day's Night" in the summer of 1964 and "I Feel Fine" in December. By the way, the matrix numbers on the label may indicate that "I'm Happy..." was the A side, but the judgment of the marketplace was clear, and "I'll Cry Instead" deservedly became the hit. Taking our cue since 2001 from the renowned Joel Whitburn's Record Research books, in displaying track order Classic 45s shows as the A side the track that became the biggest hit during the course of the single's play life; that's the way we report the Bilozoard chart information for each record as well. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Capitol Records factory sleeve. It has Near Mint labels with a touch of outer-ringwear. The vinyl has a few scuffs, grading a strong EX in appearance, and the audio sounds likewise, with light signs of wear.
