From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy, in its original Stax factory sleeve. Here's one of those rare cases where I think Dave Marsh missed a big one that should have been included in his list of the 1,001 greatest singles ever made. At least Rolling Stone got on board, pegging the song at #281 on its Top 500 list! The sinuous beat and show-stopping vocals on this recording make me stop and pay attention every time! The single has a 3:19 edited version of the album cut. Listening to it, as with many singles of the 1950s-70s, reminds you just how much better the 45 mix sounds, and how anemic the Stereo — which is what appears on reissues of the song. Have a listen to the mp3 snippet! Note: This beautiful copy really has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
