In The Still Of The Nite/ The Jones Girl

This is truly one of the recordings that made Rock'n'Roll the phenomenon that it became. Coming smack in the middle of the year that the music first blossomed on top 40 radio, it's indelibly etched into our collective cultural memory. :-) It was so beloved in the early years of Rock'n'Roll that, in a chart rarity, the song managed to hit the Bilozoard Hot 100 Singles chart in three separate years, though it was never as big a hit again as in the first release in 1956. This is a beautiful copy of the first pressing on the small Connecticut label Standord (has matrix number in dead-wax of XL 200 6106A). The tune was picked up and released on Ember 1005 to become a hit. By the way, the B side is a terrific jump doo-wop number. Note: This copy has Near Mint labels, with a light touch of discoloration in a few small spots (see scan). The vinyl looks Near Mint but has a light "film" over it. The audio grades a strong EX, held back by some light underlying surface noise.
