My Dear Beloved/ Do You Believe It

Originally released on Scepter 12152, this great single has two A sides! According to Kev Roberts, "Do You Believe It" was the first side to hit big on the northern soul circuit, but eventually the other A side, also known on some issues by the title "Dearly Beloved", won out as the A-est side. :-) Roberts lists this one at #41 in his top 500 list. By no means does this slight the other A side, however, as it's also a heart-stoppingly great, tuneful dance track. What I don't believe is that nobody played this single enough to make it a national hit in the U.S. back in 1966. Truly hit material if it had received the proper airplay. This high quality U.K. reissue has a small hole. (Note: M. Jones is Marvin Jones, Jack Montgomery's real name.)
