Not only is the music top-notch Memphis soul, but lyrically this is one of the best pleas for female sexual equality I've ever heard. Frankly, Ann gives her man much more understanding than he probably deserves, yet you get the feeling he's still going to justify the double standard for who gets to cheat on who and stay out late, etc. I'm sure its lack of airplay was some kind of protest by radio's male disc jockeys, who back in 1974 simply couldn't deal with the new game rules Peebles was putting down.
