This is a beautiful stock copy from the Louise Neal collection. This was the very first big, million-selling hit Berry Gordy achieved as he began to expand and define his emerging Motown family of labels (Tamla, Motown, Soul, V.I.P., Gordy) that were so influential on Soul music in the 1960s. This pressing has the original "horizontal lines" Tamla label, with the hit version of the song (trailoff has "L1 (2)" etched), not the first-released (and then withdrawn) version. Credited to "The Miracles Featuring Bill 'Smokey' Robinson." Note: This 45 is among those in the Neal collection that she may have actually played, but no more than a few times I would guess. This copy's A side label has a hint of storage wear as well as "D.J." stamped in red ink in the upper left (see scan); the B side label is virtually spotless! Overall, we grade the labels Near Mint. The vinyl likewise has some signs of storage wear and perhaps light handling, looking Near Mint (but just barely) overall. The vinyl has very light surface noise, but it's mostly inaudible on the A side, which has Near Mint audio; the noise is more noticeable on the softer B side track. The overall audio grade reflects the Near Mint A side audio.
