Of course, it was Part 2 that became a huge hit for Bill Black and his Combo in late 1959. If you own only one Bill Black single, this is the one. As many of you know, Black (who was white) was the bass player who recorded with Elvis Presley on most (if not all) of his early Sun singles, along with Scott Moore on guitar and D.J. Fontana on drums. "Smokie" was his first solo single (or at least the first to chart), and the A side is quite a bit different--more upbeat--than the hit B side. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Hi Records factory sleeve. The audio is very close to Mint.
