The Grass Was Green/ Neon Rainbow

Wayne Carson (Thompson) is the guy who wrote the Box Tops' classic hits "The Letter" and "Soul Deep." The B side of this promo, "Neon Rainbow," was also a Top 40 single for the Box Tops. Just like those songs, this recording is an unusual blend of Country and Soul styles... a mix characteristic of other southern writer/rockers like Joe South, Bobby Bloom, and Roy Head. Note: This copy comes in a vintage Monument Records factory sleeve.
