"There Goes My Baby" deserves to be enshrined, for the moment when those strings enter[], rhythm and blues took an irrevocable step toward soul music.It really was a brand new sound this little 45 made, and the experiment Leiber and Stoller took with the Drifters in that session went on to become the pattern of countless soul records in the coming years. Rolling Stone magazine, by the way, puts this single at #196 in its Top 500 list. This is a beautiful copy with Mint audio.
