This is a new, unplayed promo copy from the
Louise Neal 45 Collection. Daye was a Washington, DC, singer whose records on the Shrine label are outrageously rare and pricey. This promo follows in the direction Motown's labels were heading in the late 1960s by putting the same song on both sides, rather than promoting two songs as on the retail release. Unfortunately, in this case it's that elusive B side ("Speak Now") on the retail release that Northern Soul fans crave, so this promo is worth somewhat less than its retail counterpart. Still, the promoted track offers Deep Soul fans a destination worthy of exploring, and I plan to record it to my iTunes library once the last copy is gone. Note: Louise Neal received 3 roughly identical copies of this promo from Flying Hawk Music Co., two of which (these copies) are in plain white sleeves. One copy comes with the July 1967 promo letter, a quite personal one actually, to Louise (also known as "Napper" in those days) promoting Eddie Daye's latest and greatest; that copy will be offered separately. The one copy we cleaned up looks pristine Mint in all respects (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
