Abstrac' was an American female R&B group from the late 1980s and early 1990s, featuring members Monica Payne, Nichole Gilbert, and Melissa Ellis. Known for their smooth vocal harmonies and urban contemporary style, the trio gained popularity with their hit single "Right and Hype," from their self-titled debut album. Though short-lived, Abstrac' made a significant contribution to the New Jack Swing era, a fusion of hip-hop and R&B, and their work continues to influence contemporary R&B artists.
