The Afghan Whigs is an American rock band that was formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1986. Known for their soulful and darkly passionate blend of rock, R&B, and post-punk, they were among the most critically acclaimed alternative rock bands of the early '90s. The band was led by vocalist/guitarist Greg Dulli, whose distinctive raspy voice and intensely emotional lyrics set them apart. Their influential works include the album "Gentlemen" (1993), regarded as a landmark of the alternative rock era.
