Afrique was a funk and soul group from the early 1970s, best known for their unique blend of African rhythms and American soul. Formed by session musicians under the guidance of producer Larry Mizell, the band included notable members such as guitarist David T. Walker and drummer Paul Humphrey. Their most influential work, "Soul Makossa," is a cover of a song by Cameroonian artist Manu Dibango and significantly contributed to the disco and dance music scene. Afrique's short but impactful career has cemented their place in the history of soul and funk music.
