From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy, in its original ABC/Dunhill factory sleeve. Man, I had forgotten how good this one is, even though I had previously marked it to be recorded. In truth, this is the first original 1971 pressing I've ever owned. If you love Bubblegum Rock, you'll feel right at home here... I guarantee! According to Joel Whitburn's Record Research books, the Kissoons were a sister-and-brother act born in Trinidad (that explains the odd, loping rhythm on the interesting B side track). The siblings moved to England in the late 1950s, when they were in their teens. This song was not a hit in the U.K., where a different version by Scottish group Middle of the Road was a chart-topper and the Kissoon version was dismissed as, which it was, Bubblegum. (That put-down only works if it's true that no one in the world should/could/would love Bubblegum Rock. Since that isn't true, such an insult only makes the "insulter" look dumb.) The duo did have a few U.K. hits in the mid-1970s. (This is their only U.S. chart single.) Collector Nerd Alert: The song was re-released on ABC in 1974, apparently, but on a different catalog number. Note: These beautiful copies are pristine Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio). (Unless you count a tiny amount of "bubbling" on the A label, not visible in the scan.)
