Man, I had forgotten how good this one is, even though I had previously marked it to be recorded. In truth, this is only the second original 1971 pressing I've ever owned. If you love Bubblegum Rock, you'll feel right at home here... I guarantee! According to Joel Whitburn's Record Research books, the Kissoons were a sister-and-brother act born in Trinidad (that explains the odd, loping rhythm on the interesting B side track). The siblings moved to England in the late 1950s, when they were in their teens. This song was not a hit in the U.K., where a different version by Scottish group Middle of the Road was a chart-topper and the Kissoon version was dismissed as, which it was, Bubblegum. (That put-down only works if it's true that no one in the world should/could/would love Bubblegum Rock. Since that isn't true, such an insult only makes the "insulter" look dumb.) The duo did have a few U.K. hits in the mid-1970s. (This is their only U.S. chart single.) Collector Nerd Alert: The song was re-released on ABC in 1974, apparently, but on a different catalog number. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage ABC/Dunhill Records factory sleeve. It grades very close to Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
