Bikini Kill is an American punk rock band that originated in Olympia, Washington, in 1990 as one of the pioneering acts of the feminist punk wave known as "riot grrrl." The band, notably fronted by Kathleen Hanna, is known for their radical feminist lyrics and raucous live performances. Their distinctive raw, punk sound and politically charged songs, such as "Rebel Girl" and "Feels Blind," have made significant contributions to the punk genre and have influenced a generation of female musicians. Though they disbanded in 1997, Bikini Kill's impact on music and feminism continues to be recognized today.
