Bobbie Smith was an American R&B singer, known as the principal lead singer of the Detroit-based vocal group, The Spinners, also known as the Detroit Spinners. His distinctive tenor voice lent itself to the group's unique sound, particularly in their popular hits such as "I'll Be Around" and "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love". Smith's vocal style and the Spinners' soulful harmonies significantly influenced the development of 1970s Philly soul.
