Direct Current, often referred to as DC, is an American rock band known for their unique fusion of blues, jazz, and rock music. Formed in the late 1970s, the band gained recognition for their innovative use of electric guitar and complex harmonies, which set them apart in the rock scene. Their most influential work is arguably their 1982 album "High Voltage", which was critical in shaping the sound of rock in the 80s. Despite numerous lineup changes, the band's distinctive sound remains a constant, largely due to the creative direction of founding member and lead guitarist, John Sparks.
