Double Dee and Steinski is a duo of hip hop producers consisting of Douglas DiFranco and Steve Stein. They are renowned for their early use of multi-layered sampling in their work, which has significantly influenced the development of hip hop and dance music. Their most seminal work, "Lesson 1 – The Payoff Mix," was a groundbreaking track that led to the creation of the remix and mashup genres. Although they were not commercially successful due to copyright issues, their innovative techniques have left a lasting impact on the music industry.
