Enigma is an electronic music project founded in Germany in 1990 by Romanian-German musician and producer Michael Cretu. Known for their unique sound blending new age, pop, worldbeat, and ambient music, their style is marked by the use of Gregorian chants, shakuhachi flutes, and other unusual vocal and instrumental samples. Their debut album "MCMXC a.D." was a significant commercial success, especially the single "Sadeness (Part I)", which topped charts worldwide. Enigma's fusion of diverse cultural musical elements significantly influenced the direction of electronic and ambient music.
