General Caine was an American funk and soul band prominent in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The band was led by Mitch McDowell, who was known for his distinctive, gravelly vocals and energetic performances. Their musical style combined elements of funk, soul, and disco, with the occasional use of rock guitar riffs. Despite never achieving major commercial success, they are considered significant contributors to the post-disco funk movement and their song "Girls" was sampled in N.W.A's "Gangsta Gangsta", underlining their influence on later genres like hip hop.
