Harold Betters

Harold Betters, often referred to as "Mr. Trombone," was a notable American jazz trombonist renowned for his rich, warm tone and impressive technical skill. Born in 1928, Betters' career spanned over four decades, during which he released several albums, including the critically acclaimed "Funky Here and Now." His predominantly hard bop and soul-jazz style, coupled with his ability to seamlessly blend various musical elements, were significant in shaping the jazz scene, particularly in his hometown of Pittsburgh. Noted for his lively performances, Betters was a staple in the Pittsburgh jazz community until his retirement in 1997.
