J.J. Fad is an influential American female rap group that originated in the late 1980s. Consisting of members Juana Burns, Dania Birks, and Michelle Franklin, their music is characterized by playful, fast-paced lyrics over electro-hop beats. They are widely recognized for their 1988 gold-certified album "Supersonic," which was one of the earliest successes in the genre of female hip-hop. J.J. Fad’s contribution to the emerging West Coast rap scene was key in paving the way for future female artists in the predominantly male genre.
