Jackie Brenston

Jackie Brenston was an American R&B singer and saxophonist, best known for his work with Ike Turner's Kings of Rhythm in the early 1950s. His single, "Rocket 88," released in 1951, is often recognized as one of the first rock and roll records due to its fusion of blues, boogie-woogie, and a driving rhythm section. Brenston's powerful vocals and honking saxophone style contributed significantly to the development of rock and roll. Despite his brief time in the spotlight, Brenston's influence on the emerging genre of rock music cannot be overstated.
