Jackie DeShannon is an American singer-songwriter with a career spanning over six decades. Known for her versatility in music, she crossed genres like pop, country and folk, but had a pronounced influence in the development of folk-rock. Notably, she co-wrote "Bette Davis Eyes," which became a worldwide hit for Kim Carnes, and her own recording of "What the World Needs Now Is Love" became a popular anthem in the 1960s. Her significant contribution to music was recognized when she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010.
