Don't Come Around Here No More/ Trailer

From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy, in its original picture sleeve. This terrific number—a collaboration with Eurythmics producer/writer Dave Stewart—was Petty's first single for MCA... and became the second highest-charter of his career until then. I believe the female background vocalist must be Annie Lennox, given Dave Stewart's involvement. This rare release has a 5:06 track on the A side, whereas the primary stock release and other promos have a 4:19 edit. I don't know the reason for including this extended track, which also appears on one of the 12-inch U.S. releases, or how its release was timed relative to the 4:19 releases.
