I Forgot More Than You'll Ever Know/ Rock-A-Bye Boogie

Here's a real obscure treat from the early 1950's... I know the A side from Bob Dylan's country-styled Self Portrait LP, and I believe this is the original version of that classic. These gals are great singers, though this turned out to be their only chart record (though spending 8 weeks at the top of the country chart must have been a dream come true!). Tragically, one of the sisters was killed--and the other seriously wounded--in an auto accident the year this was a hit. Though another Davis sister joined sister Skeeter to continue the duo, it wasn't until the 1960's that Skeeter Davis really hit the big time. :-)

Actually, the most interesting side of this record to me is the proto-rockabilly B side which, in addition to its blatant rocking style, utilizes an amazing (for 1953) echo effect that marks it as a pioneer studio recording.
