The Davis Sisters

The Davis Sisters

The Davis Sisters were an influential American country music duo, active from the late 1940s to the early 1960s. Composed of Skeeter Davis (born Mary Frances Penick) and Betty Jack Davis, the pair pioneered a distinct blend of traditional country, gospel, and pop influences. They are best remembered for their 1953 hit "I Forgot More Than You'll Ever Know," a mournful ballad that made significant impact on the country and pop charts. The duo's style and success paved the way for future female country artists, and Skeeter Davis continued to have a prominent solo career after the tragic death of Betty Jack Davis in 1953.
