Jean Shepherd

Jean Shepherd was an American country music singer and songwriter, recognized for her honky-tonk and Nashville sound style. Active from the 1950s to the 1970s, she was one of the genre's pioneering female artists, playing a significant role in paving the way for other women in country music. Shepherd's signature song, "A Dear John Letter," a duet with Ferlin Husky, topped the country charts in 1953 and crossed over to the pop charts. Her robust, emotionally charged vocals remain a defining element of her legacy.
