Jimmy Dorsey

Jimmy Dorsey was an influential American jazz musician known for his skills in playing the clarinet and alto saxophone. He, alongside his brother Tommy, co-founded the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra in the 1920s, which had a significant impact on the swing era. Dorsey's music was characterized by smooth melodies and complex arrangements, and his hits like "Amapola" and "Tangerine" became staples of the big band repertoire. After his brother's departure in 1935, Dorsey led his own band, Jimmy Dorsey and His Orchestra, and continued to contribute to the jazz and big band genres until his death in 1957.
