The Mar-Keys were an American soul band, active primarily during the 1960s. They were one of the first house bands for the renowned Stax Records, significantly contributing to the label's signature Memphis soul sound. Notable members included Steve Cropper and Donald "Duck" Dunn, who later gained further fame with Booker T. & the MG's. The Mar-Keys' instrumental single, "Last Night," became a major hit in 1961, showcasing their fusion of rhythm and blues, funk, and jazz influences.
