New Order is an influential British synth-pop band, formed in 1980 by Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, and Stephen Morris, members of the post-punk band Joy Division, following the death of lead singer Ian Curtis. Known for their fusion of post-punk and electronic dance music, they significantly contributed to the development of the 80's New Wave and dance music scenes. Notable works include their 1983 hit "Blue Monday", which remains the best-selling 12-inch single of all time in the UK. The band's innovative use of drum machines, sequencers, and synthesizers helped to redefine the sound of pop and dance music.
