Ollie Nightingale, born as Ollie Hoskins, was an American soul and blues singer known for his passionate, soulful vocals. He began his career as the lead singer of The Dixie Nightingales, a gospel group, but transitioned to secular music in the mid-1960s and adopted the stage name Ollie Nightingale. His most significant work includes his 1968 hit "I Don't Know Why I Love You" which reached the R&B charts. A prominent figure in southern soul music, Nightingale's style is characterized by his raw emotion and soulful delivery.
