Rene & Rene, a Mexican-American pop duo from Laredo, Texas, consisted of members Rene Ornelas and Rene Herrera. They were instrumental in popularizing Chicano music in the 1960s, contributing to the Tejano music scene with their bilingual lyrics and blend of doo-wop, pop, and Latin influences. Their biggest hit, "Angelito," peaked at No. 43 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1964, making them one of the first Chicano bands to have a hit record in the United States.
