Richard "Groove" Holmes

Richard "Groove" Holmes was an American jazz organist known for his soulful and rhythmic style during the 1960s and 1970s. He played a pivotal role in popularizing the Hammond B-3 organ in jazz, contributing to what is now known as soul jazz. Holmes' signature sound, characterized by long, bluesy lines and a driving rhythm, is best exemplified in his rendition of "Misty," which reached the Billboard Top 100 in 1966. Despite his underappreciated status, Holmes had a significant influence on later generations of organists.
