Shirley Gunter

Shirley Gunter was an American rhythm and blues artist prominent in the 1950s. She led the group "Shirley Gunter and the Queens," one of the first female-led R&B groups, which was known for their signature doo-wop sound. They are best remembered for their hit song "Oop Shoop," which later influenced the development of rock and roll. Gunter's contributions to music played a significant role in paving the way for future female artists in the rhythm and blues genre.
