Smiley Lewis

Smiley Lewis was an American rhythm and blues musician known for his booming voice and rollicking New Orleans piano-driven sound. Active primarily in the 1950s, his music was a significant influence on the development of rock and roll. Although he never achieved substantial commercial success, his songs, most notably "I Hear You Knocking," were later covered by other artists and became hits. Lewis' style is characterized by its upbeat tempo, rich bluesy underpinnings, and distinctive incorporation of New Orleans jazz elements.
