The Specials, also known as The Special A.K.A, is a seminal British band that formed in 1977. Known for their distinctive fusion of punk rock and ska (a genre known as 2 Tone), their music was heavily influenced by the political and social unrest of the late 1970s and early '80s. Band members Terry Hall, Lynval Golding, and Neville Staple notably contributed to their unique sound. Their self-titled debut album, including the hit single "Ghost Town", was influential in the ska revival movement in the UK and continues to be celebrated for its enduring social commentary.
