The Stone Poneys were an American folk-rock trio popular in the late 1960s, most notable for launching the career of singer Linda Ronstadt. The band, consisting of Ronstadt, Bobby Kimmel, and Kenny Edwards, blended folk, country, and rock elements, which set a precedent for Ronstadt's later solo work. Their most significant hit, "Different Drum," showcased Ronstadt's powerful vocals and became a defining track in the folk-rock genre. Although the Stone Poneys disbanded after only a few years, their influence is seen in the subsequent development of country rock and the successful solo career of Linda Ronstadt.
