The Carstairs were an American soul group from Philadelphia, primarily active during the 1970s. Known for their smooth harmonies and romantic lyrical style, they found their greatest success with the 1973 hit "It Really Hurts Me Girl," which later gained a cult following on the UK Northern Soul scene. The band consisted of lead vocalist Harry McGilberry, who later joined the Temptations, along with Paul and George McLemore. The Carstairs remain a significant part of Philadelphia's rich soul music history.
