The Chants

The Chants were a British soul group from Liverpool, active during the 1960s. The band, comprised of four brothers — Joey, Nat, Joe, and Edmund Ankrah — along with Alan Harding, had a distinctive style, blending doo-wop, soul, and gospel influences. They were notably backed by The Beatles during a performance at the Cavern Club, leading to a recording contract with Pye Records. Despite their lack of commercial success, The Chants are recognized for their contribution to the British soul music scene.
